The Purpose of the Folk Music Society of Midland is to:
- Promote interest and educate the public in traditional music, folklore, and dance.
- Provide a forum for musicians, dancers and storytellers with an interest in traditional music.
 
- Provide services to the community via sponsorship of society meetings, concerts, festivals, and workshops designed to maintain these traditional heritages.

The Folk Music Society of Midland (Michigan) is an affiliate of the Country Dance and Song Society, which qualifies the FMSM as a tax-exempt, non-profit organization.  Contributions are tax deductible under the IRS 501 (c)(3) tax code.

Board Meetings
 Board meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month
and are open to Everyone. Board meetings begin at 7:00 pm* and are held at the Midland Public Schools Administration Building, 6700 Carpenter Road in Midland.
 
*Please note date & time are subject to change. Also if Midland Public Schools are cancelled that day, the FMSM Board meeting will also be cancelled.

Board Meeting
The board meetings will no longer take place at the MPS Administration Building, but instead at the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library in Midland, 2nd Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm (except June & July)

June 12th is the Annual Meeting/Election/Picnic for all members, at the Carriage House of the Midland County Historical Society's Bradley Home at 3200 Cook Road, Midland, MI. Doors open 6:00 pm, Potluck Dinner at 6:15 pm (Ham, Turkey, Beverages, and table service provided); Business meeting at 7:00 pm; Music & Dance at 7:15 pm (Bring your acoustic instrument  &/or dance shoes!)
